The Society for Range Management

What is SRM? Mission Statement. Committees

The Society for Range Management is an organization of membership that includes people from all over the world who manage, conserve, and enjoy rangelands, with shared passion and appreciation. It is composed of a board, committees, and staff for the support of science, management, and as the voice of rangeland stewardship. Their mission statement is “Providing leadership for the Stewardship of Rangelands based on sound ecological principles.” This organization is committed to the advancements, leaders, and education in sustainable rangeland management.

SRM is composed of a board of executive officers, directors, staff, and publications. The board consists of three positions, President, Dr. Berry Perryman, 1st Vice President, Karen R. Hickman, and 2nd Vice President, Dr. Jeff Goodwin.

SRM is a community, it’s science and education, it’s boots on the ground and it’s in our state offices. SRM is full of resources of people within the industry, learning materials, and is change and strategy. It’s a society for the betterment of the outcomes of rangelands, and as managers and stewards of the land.

Annual Meeting

The Society for Range Management 2024 annual meeting theme is “Change on the Range.” While change can be difficult for most, SRM embraces it. With Change on the Range as this year’s theme, it is fitting to have sessions of collaboration of people from many different walks of life, but with the same common ground of a passion for rangelands. There will be sessions on wildlife restoration, private land conservation, economics, equine science, stocking rates, research, grazing, soil health, virtual fencing, ranching, and many more topics, all including topics of change within these sessions, and in sessions on their own.
